Team RukuBot comes from the land of Himalayas in Nepal. It is a team of six students from two nearby high schools in a rural community called Pharping, which is roughly 15 miles south of the capital city, Kathmandu. First Global is the first time a team from this community has ever participated in any international competition, and the team is excited to take on this challenge and prove its mettle. More importantly, the teachers, parents and the whole community are rallying behind the team for their success. Opportunities like these are more meaningful in this impoverished community from a poor nation trying to get back into its feet after the devastating earthquakes of 2015. The team, which includes both boys and girls was formed by and being mentored, advised, and trained with the help of a US based nonprofit, Rukmini Foundation. Team RukuBot wants to show the world that with opportunity and support, students from anywhere in the world can help to create the future.
