Team Peru 2018

We come from Peru, a country that you probably know very little about. Peru is the country where Inca culture was developed, the largest empire in Latin America, builders of stone cities in the Andes, such as Cuzco and Machu-Picchu. To be more specific, we come from Arequipa, better known as the White City due to its walls being sculpted from white volcanic rock; This is where the Amazon River originated, with the largest water-flow in the world; with the deepest canyons, like Colca and Cotahuasi; where the greatest number of volcanoes are located in South America: Misti, Chachani, Pichu-Pichu, Coropuna, Ampato, among others.

We are students of the Domingo Savio school. Our passion for the construction of automaton prototypes/models is born precisely from the experimentation workshops that our school has, where we had contact with our first robot, which silently had to put up with our unbearable cravings for experimentation that ended up with it dismantled and reassembled in a million different ways.

Seeing that a machine can behave like a human, by its own will, becomes a powerful impulse to entice you to continue testing new forms of assembly and operation, increasingly automated.

We have consolidated as a team as we were acquiring greater mastery in each of the aspects involved in working with robots. Our goal is not only to make our prototypes capable of performing multiple tasks with the least investment of processes; but, and especially, to propose viable alternatives of simplification in automated production; and even better if we manage, at the same time, to reduce the impact of big industry on the environment; in this way, robotics would allow us not only to save…

The path we have traveled with our robots has reoriented our preferences for future occupations and work; So much so, that we are considering committing ourselves entirely to the task of inventing, perfecting and proposing the use of automated equipment to make the life of human beings less boring, more productive and entertaining.

Our team consists of nine people: first, we have Ariana, known as Wassú, our programmer, the most empathic of the group. Then we have Luis, the inexhaustible source of ideas for endless purposes. Those responsible for the operation of our designs are Gabriel, also known as Paco, and Camila, always predisposed to do everything necessary for the robot to work; Next, we have Diego, who has the spirit of leadership that the team always needs; there is also Carolina, always ready to collaborate in everything necessary. And last but not least, we have our mentors: Crismar, responsible and trustworthy above all; Juan, always persistent and patient; Nelson, who demonstrates a unique passion for the team.

It is a pleasure to participate in FIRST Global Challenge 2018, and submit our robot to the demanding test, which means this competition. We know that we will enjoy this experience to the fullest.
