Team Antigua and Barbuda 2019 🇦🇬

“Wah Gwarn” FIRST Global – which is our local dialect for “Hello” from Antigua (An-tee-ga) & Barbuda (Bar-bue-da) – Team DadliBots.

Our team had an unforgettable experience participating for the first time in 2018 and have grown from three (3) to now over twenty (20) students. We are happy to be back for 2019 and even more excited about this year’s challenge – “Ocean Opportunities” – as it reminds us about the important role that everyone has to play in protecting one of the key natural resources that surrounds our beauty twin-island home, which have our 365 beaches – one for every day of the year.

We are all looking forward to participating in a nation-wide coastal cleanup for International Coastal Clean Up Day as a motivational lead up to the co-opertition in Dubai…

Can’t wait to meet and share with everyone – THANK YOU FIRST Global…

Anil Nanton (The DJ) is a 16 year old student who enjoys deejaying and playing various instruments in his spare time. His love for physics and mathematics continues to steer him in the direction of robotics, and also engineering, as a future career choice to better his community and maybe even the world.

Jalese Gordon (The Sailor) is 18 year old and loves the ocean. She aspires to a career in International Relations and also loves that FIRST Global continues to do an amazing job of allowing young girls to engage in programming and engineering, which will help them to consider future STEM careers.

Shakiah Dangleben (The Dreamer) is a 17 year old student who finds science subjects very interesting. She continues to explore the causes and effects of pollution in the environment and the major disadvantages it has on aquatic life. As many species are facing extinction; she believes challenges like the FIRST Global Challenge not only help to shed light on the issues, but also get more youth involved in coming up with solutions using STEM that can help to eventually stop ocean pollution.

Sherwal Hannays (The Gamer) is 17 years old and enjoys playing video games or learning about robotics. He appreciates the opportunity that FIRST Global has provided to help more young people get involved in safe-guarding the environment and looks forward to working with others around the world to come up with solutions to make the world a better place for everyone.

Shemar Abel (The Diplomat) is 17 years old and loves programming and fixing electronics. Computer science or cyber security are possible future careers that he hopes to explore, and he also enjoys visiting other countries to expand his view of the world and understanding of other cultures and beliefs.

Nico Matthias (The Mechanic) is 18 years old and enjoys playing football, singing, video gaming, and working hands-on as a training mechanic. He loves the opportunities that STEM education provides for young people to learn how to solve real-world problems.

Qadash Charles (The Programmer) is 15 years old and whenever he isn’t busy programming or playing video games, he really enjoys reading. He hopes to become a pilot someday as he wants to push the boundaries of reality with his passion for science and technology.
