Team Bhutan 2019 🇧🇹

Sonam Choki — I am 16 years old and I will be taking part in this year’s FGC as a member of Team Bhutan. I have been always curious about robotics and now participating and building one is a dream come true. This competition has made me aware of my potential and I hope to extend my knowledge and inspire others students like me.

Tenzin Euden — I am 16 years old studying in Loselling Middle Secondary School in 10th grade. I love mathematics and physics. I always used to be amazed by technology and astonished to see robots and wanted to learn their mechanics. I feel this curiosity has led me here to representing Team Bhutan for FIRST Global Challenge 2019. I am really grateful to everyone who supported me.

Sherab Dorji — I am studying in 10th grade in Loselling middle secondary school. As this is for the first time for me to take part in such a great competition, I have been learning so many new things besides from robotics and programming. It taught me the values of life. Thank You FIRST Global.

Thinley Dorji — I am 15 years old studying in 10th standard in Loselling middle Secondary School. It was phenomenal to learn about robotics and I can’t believe I just helped build one. I was inspired by my teachers, family, and friends about technology such as robotics. I was curious when my teachers introduced robotics and now robotics is my passion.

Arjun Mongar — I am 15 years old. I study at loselling Middle Secondary School. It’s my passion to work and learn about technologies. This competition will really help me to understand things more and boost my passion in science and technologies.

Sherab Yangzom — I am 15 years old and I am in 10th grade. I am very passionate about STEM and representing Bhutan is a great honour for me. I am excited and passionate about getting my hands on building a robot. I hope that we can inspire other students from Bhutan and the rest of the world that robots can be the solutions and the future to solving the contemporary issues of the world and make the world a better place to live.

Mentors

Thinley Namgyel — I am currently working as a teacher at Loselling Middle Secondary School. For the first time in Bhutan, the organizing committee of the National STEM Olympiad FabLab Bhutan, Royal Education council and ministry of education introduced Rev robotics and FIRST Global to the top 20 selected schools to participate in the ‘National STEM Olympiad 2019’ with the theme ‘artificial Intelligences for sustainable farming’. The winning team from Loselling Middle Secondary School will now be representing Bhutan in the 2019 FIRST Global Challenge in Dubai with the theme “Ocean Opportunities” under the guidance of Fablab Bhutan.

Karma Lhakyi — I am currently working as the director of FabLab Bhutan to support and foster innovation and creativity in the country. I believe that technology is the essential need for our daily activities and not being able to live and cope-up with it, life will be hard for every individual. Simultaneously my motivation to be a part of Fablab Bhutan and FIRST Global is to motivate our youths and to empower female participation to work more with science and technology and to be able to deal with advancement in it.

Rinzin Tsheten — I was team captain of the 2018 FIRST Global Team Bhutan and currently am working in FabLab Bhutan supporting the new team with the motivation to inspire the passionate minds to achieve more in the field of science and technology. Because I believe that science and technology is the present and the future; and if you don’t know how to live with it, then you are wrecked.
