Team Bermuda 2017

Ashlyn:

Ashlyn was head girl of her Primary School, Paget Primary, which has an annual science fair which, along with the local Math Olympiad, helped to spark Ashlyn’s love of science and technology.  Ashlyn is a Language Leader, the president of the Eco Club at The Bermuda High School, where she is in Year 10 and an honour role student.  Outside of school, Ashlyn volunteers every Saturday at an autism playgroup for children on the spectrum, which gives their parents a few hours break each week.  In addition, Ashlyn is part of her church’s youth group, Youth Impact and is a member of her local Rotary Interact Club.

Katie:

Katie has been at The Bermuda High School since she was 5 and is currently in Year 10.  Katie is a prefect and on the Principal’s Honour Role.  In school, Katie volunteers at the Climbing Club and is a Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme participant, and last year experienced robotics for the first time in an EV3 Robotics Club.  Outside of school, Katie volunteers at the SPCA and plays the piano.  Katie has a cat named Cleo, who she loves.

Yulia:

Yulia has been a student at The Bermuda High School since she was 5 and is looking forward to starting the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme at BHS in the fall. Yulia is on the school volleyball team and plays the piano.  Last year, Yulia traveled to California on a Round Square Leadership Conference, bringing back a bike build project where students built pedal bikes from scratch to donate to families in need.  Yulia wants to be an aero-space engineer, so she joined the robotics team to gain more experience and put her in better stead for university.

Nadhiri:

Nadhiri is in her fourth year at BHS, having joined in Year 7. Nadhiri is the Secretary of her school’s Eco Club, participates in the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme, is a member of her school’s Diversity Club and is an honour role student.  She is the Past Vice President and Past Vice-Secretary of her local Rotary Interact Club, and is currently serving in the role of Treasurer. When she is not busy with her studies and various extra curricular responsibilities, she interns in a local management company, in the accounts department, and is teaching herself how to play the piano.  Nadhiri is fascinated by astronomy, philosophy and chemistry, and is looking at possibly studying aerospace engineering or political science.

Kameron:

Kameron is a Year 11 student at The Bermuda High School, having just finished her GCSE examinations. Kameron is the editor of the school newspaper, The Written Flame, and has taken it electronic with a dedicated YouTube page. Kameron was first interested in robotics one year ago as part of her school’s STEAM Week where she built and programmed EV3 robots. Outside of school, Kameron is a voracious reader and volunteers at the Bermuda Aquarium, Museum and Zoo weekly where she most enjoys feeding the seals and running through their tricks with them. This summer she is excited to be an Aquarium Camp Counsellor.
