Team Belize 2019 🇧🇿

Belize is a small independent country bordered in the North and West by Mexico, in the South by Guatemala, and in the East by the Caribbean Sea. Identifying as both a Caribbean and Central America nation, we are no longer “mother nature’s best kept secret”! Our tiny, but mighty, English-speaking country hosts a melting pot of cultures where everyone can call home. Known for adventure, discovery, and soul-stirring experiences, guests may find themselves diving in the Great Blue Hole, climbing an ancient Maya Ruin, zip-lining through the jungle, and exploring the wonders of one of the world’s largest barrier reefs. Belize has an activity to tick off everyone’s bucket list.

Our team consists of 5 enthusiastic students selected from over 25 interested Belize High School students. In promoting STEAM EDUCATION to Belizean students, we truly believe that sparking our students’ interest in robotics is the key to creating young scientists and engineers that will continue to develop the country. “Learners Today, Leaders Tomorrow” is our team motto.

Adrian (Captain)
Hello, I am Adrian and I am the Captain of the FIRST Global Team Belize 2019. I am a ravenous researcher of Artificial Intelligence and I am excited to be a part of the promotion of STEM education in Belize. I have a strong interest in all things IT so I often find myself researching about new technology and even coming up with new ideas for things that could possibly develop the world or just help the people in my country. I enjoy playing video games. I currently aspire to be a Cyber Security Specialist because I want to make sure the internet is a safe space for everyone to enjoy.

Nehal
I am Nehal and I am grateful for the opportunity to be a part of the solution to the problems presented in Ocean Opportunity. My hobbies include reading, drawing, playing video games, and football. My favorite food is spaghetti. I would like a career in AI Development. Being a part of the FIRST Global team has helped me to improve my verbal communication and analytical skills, and the ability to solve problems with efficient solutions.

Amirah
My name is Amirah and I am enthusiastic about learning all that is involved in programming. It is rewarding when the program I made brings my robot to life. I want to encourage more girls to be involved in programming and robotics. I like swimming, traveling, and doing anything adventurous! My favorite food is pasta. I would like to be a graphic designer or interior designer.

Chahatt (Spokesperson)
I am Chahatt and I am the spokesperson for my team. I am excited for the competition and meeting new people from all over the world. The skills that are developed through competitions such as FIRST Global are life skills. I hope to continue sharing my skills and knowledge with students across Belize and inspire them to pursue careers in engineering and robotics. I enjoy reading and painting. I like eating Italian food. My current career aspiration is to become a veterinarian.

Jonathan
My name is Jonathan. As a first-hand witness to the effects of Sargassum, I am motivated to find a solution to this problem. We rely greatly on the sea for food and tourism and I believe that it is our duty as a country to keep our waters clean and marine life thriving. My hobbies are playing video games and going out to the Cayes with my friends and family. My favorite food is fettuccine alfredo. I would like a career in cyber security.
