Team Rwanda 2019 🇷🇼

Team Rwanda is made of students from all parts of the country. We all have a common passion for robotics and we are very fascinated by the subject. Our team is made up of students, 2 technical mentors — Muroti Theophile, who is also the lead, and Musanase Christine — and 2 team coordinators: Neza Guillaine and Marie Claire Murekatete. We are very excited to take part of this robotic competition this year and are looking forward to a successful program.

Our team is a very united. We have been working hard to make this project a success. We meet twice a week mainly in the weekends because we all have classes, but we do hope that this a lifetime opportunity to participate in, which is why the time we do meet we make it as productive as possible. Our team looks forward to being involved in robotics mentorship activities to talk about our experiences and the benefits that FIRST Global provides by helping in problem-solving and STEM, and motivating others to think creatively. We are ready to face the challenge; this will be our first time to participate in a robotic program of this caliber and we look forward to giving our very best in learning and impacting our country. Finally, yet importantly, we are excited to work with our mentors, advisor, and the FIRST Global Rwanda coordinating team. With their support and our passion for robotics we will manage to progress a lot.

TEAM MEMBER BIOS
Anais Nzamwita | Green Hills International High School Academy
I am Rwandan and come from a family of four children. I’m a middle child which gives me quite many advantages, but I make sure that I am not frustrating or putting much pressure to my mother as I’m raised by single mother! I started school at early age and I’m going to finish high school at a young age. I study at Green Hills Academy in Kigali city, which is a capital of Rwanda. I like technology as it lets people be productive. Graduating with an IB diploma in IT will give me many opportunities. And I believe the most rewarding aspect of a Technology career is to keep learning and you always enjoy all the powerful thinks you do as an engineer.  Robot technology is being applied in so many domains that nobody can know how many and which they are. I have always been amazed with robots and creating one would be a dream come true! Besides, technology I am also passionate about global warming and I wish I could take a sabbatical year for further research on global warming which is one of my favorite topics.  I am extremely happy to represent my country in the 2019 FIRST Global Challenge.

Benjamin Mugisha | Espanya Secondary School
I am 17 years old doing my advanced level at Espanya Secondary School in Nyanza District, southern province in ICT and Sub-sector of Networking.  I am passionate about technology and I have been fascinated by how technology is playing a huge role in how we get around, how we interact with each other, and how we do business. It is always changing as more innovations are brought forward to improve our day to day life.  I spend much of my time reading and trying to understand science and technology during my free time. I am very excited to be on Team Rwanda and committed at using the skills that I will acquire from the FIRST Global Challenge to impact my home, Africa.

Also, I attended different training such CCTV modern and analog camera installation and network installation. I am so excited to attend the 2019 FIRST Global Challenge!

Samuel Kwihangana Rwakayiro  | Lumiere Primary high school
I am 18 years old and I grew up in Karongi. After reaching my advanced level, that is when I started learning more about technology and my passion grew from there. So now I’m working to improve my skills and explore more about it, especially now in Robotics. I also did trainings in CCTV modern and analog camera installation, network installation and some in java programming. I learned there is no other way to be successful other than through working hard. My upbringing has supported my development and I am thankful for it. I like to play basketball and read books.
