Team Republic of Korea 2019 🇰🇷

Team Republic of Korea is composed of five members; all five attend different schools, but they are united as one Team Korea through their common interest in robotics and environmental issues.

Brian Rhim
Brian (not seen in the photo) was unable to attend the previous Team Korea meet-up because of having to return to his boarding school in the US. Brian has been passionate about robotics ever since he was a child, having been influenced by his father who is a robotics professor. This will be Brian’s second time to participate in the FIRST Global Challenge after leading the assembling and designing of Team Korea’s robot in the previous 2018 FIRST Global Challenge.

Evelyn Hur
Evelyn’s bubbly personality radiates a great positive energy about Team Korea; she is a lovely girl who loves to surf—which naturally sparked her interest in marine environment issues, compelling her to join this year’s FIRST Global Challenge. Evelyn is excited to meet students and professionals from over 180 countries to share her love for the ocean and sustainability practices.

Ji In Jung
Ji In is an incredibly bright and sociable girl who loves to watch fashion-related shows on YouTube and listen to the latest K-POP songs. This year’s theme for the FIRST Global Challenge is significant to Ji In because, as a fashion lover, she understands some of the problems the fashion industry has introduced, namely relying on dyeing processes that release toxic chemicals, leaching out and polluting rivers. Ji In is particularly interested in the global issue of wastewater treatment.

Ryan Lee
This year’s challenge is not Ryan’s first time to participate in the FIRST Global games. Ryan competed in the 2017 FIRST Global Challenge that took place in Washington D.C., and he is very excited to take on the challenge for a second time. He is determined to be the best ever control Team Korea has had, using his experience in encoding of functions and robotics maneuvering.

Thomas Kwak
Thomas is in charge of programming the 2019 Team Korea robot. He has wanted to participate in the FIRST Global Challenge for a long time, given his natural talent for coding and anything related to robotics! Thomas is the mastermind behind Team Korea’s potential for this year’s competition.
