Challenge #17• For the ladies ? As a team Chile we want to call on all the girls in the world, so that together we demolish the myths and form a more equitable STEM community, our team, being one of the few teams in the competition that is made up solely of women, has made us see the big gender gaps in STEM. For this reason, we make a call not to believe everything that we have always been told, we are important and we have the same capacity as men to be able to be in the STEM world, we are capable of that and much more, and although change has to be generate in our environment, if we do not empower ourselves, we will not be able to break down that invisible barrier that prevents us from developing as women. For all those girls who for fear of being different and not fitting in have not entered the STEM world, you can! Together we will change the differences that have marked us for years, together we will create a much more equal place, where the differences do not mark us. @f1rstglobal @first_official_

Challenge #16 ?️ • Contact Your Government For the 16th challenge, “Contact Your Government” we got the opportunity to speak to local, regional and national government official(s)! As Team Chile we are really thankful to know that our country supports us in the FIRST Global Challenge. We received nine responses all with official videos and getting shoutouts to Team Chile, to our surprise, our pitch spread through the authorities and even some authorities reached to us first because they really wanted to help in whichever way they could. All of the responses are in our feed! Our authorities were glad to participate saying that we were role models and examples to follow! They really liked what we exposed in our pitch. We talked about the gender gap in STEM and how they can support building access to STEM education in our country. We leave this challenge satisfied with the outcome, we did much better then what we expected and thank you to all authorities because you showed us that we can work together and build bridges for other kids! Thank you Chile! @f1rstglobal @first_official_

In Chile we have a special ministry of Science, Technology, Innovation and Knowledge, this is why we didn’t hesitate to get in touch with them for the 16th challenge and showed them our pitch. Carolina Torrealba is the Sub secretary of this ministry, she is in charge of coordinating the actions of the sector’s public bodies and services and running the internal administration of her ministry from and by order of the executive branch. The Ministry is the name given to each of the bodies into which the Public Administration of a country is divided, to carry out government policies in an area of special competence (international relations, economy, defense, health, education, work, etc.). She responded with an official video saying: “Hi! I’m Carolina Torrealba from the new ministry of science, technology, knowledge and innovation. And we lead a project that closes all kinds of gaps in Science technology and innovation in our country. If we want to build a better country, with more diversity, knowledge that is more complex and representative and more productive we definitely have to add more women and we have to eliminate all these gender gaps that are written in our culture. It’s something hard and complex because from centuries ago it has been our culture and we have it in our roots. That is why we need the effort of everyone in our society. In this context I want to congratulate and tell you that as a country we are proud that our national robotics selection is a girls made team because they are role models. So, let’s go girls, for more robotics and more women in science, technology, and innovation in our country.” Thank You Carolina! @f1rstglobal @min_ciencia @first_official_
