FIRST<\/em> Global es un testimonio del poder de STEM para transformar vidas. La educaci\u00f3n STEM puede elevar a las personas, ofreci\u00e9ndoles oportunidades para que desarrollen todo su potencial independientemente de su edad, capacidad percibida, sexo, estatus socioecon\u00f3mico o pa\u00eds de origen.<\/p>\n

La historia de Abdelrahman es uno de esos casos. Nacido con hemofilia, un trastorno que impide la coagulaci\u00f3n de su sangre, hab\u00eda muchas cosas que no pod\u00eda hacer de ni\u00f1o por miedo a su seguridad. Hasta la m\u00e1s m\u00ednima ca\u00edda o rasgu\u00f1o pod\u00eda provocarle lesiones graves. Sus tratamientos consist\u00edan en innumerables inyecciones, y hab\u00eda d\u00edas en los que ni siquiera pod\u00eda sostener un bol\u00edgrafo debido al dolor de sus articulaciones.<\/p>\n

Al crecer, no se le permit\u00eda correr y jugar como a los dem\u00e1s ni\u00f1os, lo que era especialmente duro en un pa\u00eds que valoraba los deportes como el f\u00fatbol.<\/p>\n

\"\"Sin embargo, eso cambi\u00f3 cuando descubri\u00f3 la rob\u00f3tica.<\/p>\n

Le presentaron al club de rob\u00f3tica de su escuela y todo cambi\u00f3 a partir de ah\u00ed. Ahora ten\u00eda una salida segura donde su creatividad y su pasi\u00f3n pod\u00edan prosperar, un lugar donde su condici\u00f3n no importaba. Pod\u00eda ser \u00e9l mismo y hacer amigos.<\/p>\n

No tard\u00f3 en participar con su equipo en competiciones, incluso viajando al extranjero. Aunque desalentador al principio, lo consigui\u00f3 una y otra vez, demostr\u00e1ndose a s\u00ed mismo y a los dem\u00e1s que era m\u00e1s que capaz de superar los obst\u00e1culos que intentaban interponerse en su camino.<\/p>\n

\"Sus padres est\u00e1n encantados de que tenga una vida que le ilusione, en lugar de estar tumbado en la cama enfermo y sin hacer nada\", dijo su entrenador, Sondos. \"Ahora es un joven con una sonrisa que te roba el coraz\u00f3n, \u00a1y sue\u00f1os tan grandes! He visto crecer a este maravilloso joven delante de mis ojos\".<\/h5><\/blockquote>\n

\"\"As\u00ed que cuando fue seleccionado para representar a su naci\u00f3n en la FIRST<\/em> Global Challenge en Dubai, \u00e9l y su familia estaban encantados. En pocos a\u00f1os, hab\u00eda pasado de ser un ni\u00f1o confinado en su cama, a un competidor en la escena mundial junto a otros 1.400 estudiantes.<\/p>\n

La rob\u00f3tica le dio un sue\u00f1o y una esperanza para el futuro, sirvi\u00e9ndole de salida para poder alcanzar todo su potencial.<\/p>\n

\"Mi vida ha cambiado por completo\", dijo. \"Ahora espero algo con ilusi\u00f3n, ya sea un nuevo recorrido o una nueva competici\u00f3n. Ahora tengo esperanza en el ma\u00f1ana\".<\/p>\n

Abdelrahman planea utilizar sus habilidades para convertirse en programador en el futuro. Comprendiendo de primera mano el poder de una oportunidad para transformar vidas, tambi\u00e9n planea ayudar a otros ni\u00f1os que quieran iniciar su propio viaje en la rob\u00f3tica.<\/p>\n
