Keeghan Patrick fue una estudiante participante en la edici\u00f3n de 2017 de\u00a0FIRST<\/em>\u00a0Global Challenge en Washington, D.C., representando a su pa\u00eds, Santa Luc\u00eda. Con s\u00f3lo 18 a\u00f1os en aquel momento, ahora se ha graduado en la universidad, ha empezado su m\u00e1ster en el Instituto Tecnol\u00f3gico de Massachusetts (MIT) y ha fundado\u00a0Orbtronics<\/a> - una empresa tecnol\u00f3gica con la misi\u00f3n de acelerar la tecnolog\u00eda en el Caribe mediante la creaci\u00f3n de software para facilitar los programas de educaci\u00f3n STEM.<\/p>\n

Este a\u00f1o, Keeghan y su cofundador refundaron\u00a0FIRST<\/em>\u00a0Equipo Global Santa Luc\u00eda, que hab\u00eda estado inactivo desde el Desaf\u00edo de 2018. De este modo, Keeghan ha cerrado el c\u00edrculo de estudiante participante a mentor del equipo, transmitiendo a la pr\u00f3xima generaci\u00f3n de j\u00f3venes de Santa Luc\u00eda la misma oportunidad que a \u00e9l le cambi\u00f3 la vida.<\/p>\n

Orbtronics Junior, un programa de un mes de duraci\u00f3n para ni\u00f1os de 11 a 16 a\u00f1os que incluye retos pr\u00e1cticos para formarlos en rob\u00f3tica o python.<\/p><\/div>\n

\"Cuando se participa en\u00a0FIRST<\/em>\u00a0Global sales con una historia realmente buena\", dijo. \"Me dio mucho reconocimiento a la hora de solicitar becas, sobre todo siendo de una naci\u00f3n en desarrollo. Nos demostr\u00f3 que, aunque seamos de una peque\u00f1a isla, podemos tener un impacto global. Quer\u00edamos dar a los estudiantes esa misma oportunidad\".<\/p>\n

Y el impacto ya est\u00e1 dando sus frutos. Este a\u00f1o, una de las alumnas de Keeghan, Nehal, recibi\u00f3 el premio Temasek Women in STEM. Ahora, Nehal est\u00e1 trabajando para organizar talleres STEM para otras mujeres j\u00f3venes en todo su pa\u00eds.<\/p>\n
