Team Dominica 2018

Team Dominica is comprised of Mr. Alan Morris Mentor/Team Manager, Rhea Xavier, Kemuel Roberts, Sydney John and Shanea Edwards.

Kemuel J. Roberts is a second year Mathematics, Physics, and Biology student.  He intends to pursue further studies in Bioengineering, since it incorporates all of his current areas of study as well as his desire to improve and create new technologies in a green and sustainable way. He enjoys reading, football, volleyball, music, animals, and spending time with friends and family.  Kemuel is very excited about FGC 2018 because he was very much involved in assisting the team last year in the building of the robot and was fascinated by the creative challenge it presented and felt great joy when they found solutions to these problems.  He hopes to take his experience from last year and assist his team in building an even better robot for FGC 2018.

Rhea J. Xavier is also a second year Biology and Physics student.  Rhea plans to be a Doctor and researcher in the future.  In her free time, she enjoys reading, learning new things, hiking and joking around with friends. She is also an intern at the Create Caribbean Research Institute in which she learns programming, teaching and research skills. According to her, attending the First Global Challenge in 2017 taught her humility and working under pressure while meeting and conversing with youth from all over the world.  She said, “I am grateful that I have the opportunity to participate in the FGC 2018, since I do believe that the youth have something interesting to offer the world in a way that has never been seen before”.

Shanae L. Edwards, is a Mechanical Engineering second year student. She said, “It’s no surprise that I love working with my hands so I’m grateful to take part in this journey”.  According to Shanae the experience will allow her to apply whatever she has mastered and what she has yet to learn to whatever her career choice may be in her broad major in the near future.

Sidney John is an 18 year old second year Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics student.  In addition to being part of the robotics team, he is involved in a number of extracurricular activities, such as being a founding member of the math club and a member of various sports teams.  Sidney said that Robotics has allowed him to put what he has learned in class to practice and since being introduced to robotics, he has considered it as a possible career path.
