Team United States of America 2019 🇺🇸

Team United States of America is comprised of five high-school students from FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) Team 9879, Root Negative One, of Springdale, Arkansas. At the 2018-2019 FTC World Championship in Houston, Root Negative One was honored to be the recipient of the Inspire Award. The Inspire Award recognizes a top FTC team for their excellence in engineering design, community engagement, innovation, and Gracious Professionalism. As a team, our vision is to be recognized as a model STEM education and outreach program with sustained excellence in robotics engineering, organizational development, and community engagement.

Since our team was founded in 2015, we have actively sought out opportunities to support FIRST, STEM, and our community. In 2018-2019, we mentored FIRST LEGO League (FLL) and FIRST LEGO League Jr (FLL Jr) teams in our school district, as well as rookie FTC teams in Arkansas, Australia, and Turkey, as well as a rookie FLL team in Peru. We are working with local professionals to advocate for the implementation of FLL Jr programs in all public schools in our state. Using technical skills we learned in FTC, we assist special needs children with engineering solutions to the challenges they face, including developing prototype walkers and other mobility devices.

We are incredibly grateful to have the opportunity to represent our country and our community on the world stage at the FIRST Global Challenge in Dubai. Participating in FIRST Global will be a once in a lifetime experience for all of us, and we look forward to working and connecting with our peers from all over the world.
