Mexican students take silver in FIRST Global Robotics Olympiad challenge

Mexico City, Mexico — Mexico takes home a silver medal in the Robotics Olympiad after their team showed high performance in the first Global Challenge.

The team, which is made up of Frida Sofía Sosa, Santiago García, Ángel Berdeja, Herman Sánchez and Jorge García, all Tec de Monterrey students, won the Einstein Prize silver medal, which was presented by presidentelect Andrés Manuel López Obrador and Ricardo Salinas Pliego, president of Grupo Salinas.

The medal was named after the physicist Albert Einstein, who developed the theory of relativity. The Einstein Prize is awarded to teams whose robot showed a high level of performance in competitions.

Other teams that took part in the challenge were Hungary, Germany, Singapore, Cambodia England, Georgia and Qatar with the robot named Mu’k’a’an, who made it to the quarterfinals.
