SENA youth win silver medal in the world’s most important robotics competition

Omar García Falla, Natalia Charry Vargas and Bryant Hernández Perdomo designed and built a robot to generate clean energy and combat climate change. Their prototype represented Colombia in the 2018 FIRST Global Challenge competition and took second place.

When Omar García Falla, Natalia Charry Vargas and Bryant Hernández Perdomo decided to make a robot to generate clean energy and combat climate change, they did not imagine that with their idea they would represent Colombia in the most important robotics Olympics in the world. They did not imagine either that at their young age, they are all under 20 years old, they would get second place in the competition, surpassing world powers in technology such as China, Japan and South Korea.

The prototype, built in the scientific laboratories of the Seine in Neiva, Huila, and designed to turn wind turbines and transport solar panels, won the silver medal in the 2018 FIRST Global Challenge competition, which was held last week in Mexico City.
