Team Guam competes in robotics in Mexico City

Team Guam, made up of students from Okkodo High School and Simon Sanchez High School, is in Mexico City to compete in the FIRST Global International Competition. Team Guam won its first match Friday morning at the competition in Mexico City.

The theme for the 2018 challenge is “energy impact” – one of the 14 grand challenges of engineering identified by National Academies of Engineering. The robotics competition is being held from Aug. 16 to 18.

This is the first time a team from Guam is participating in the event that aims to spread STEM education to students who are underrepresented in the technology and engineering communities. Photo courtesy of the Guam Department of Education.
