Les robots XRP sont livr\u00e9s avec un support \u00e9ducatif et logiciel int\u00e9gr\u00e9, et ils sont con\u00e7us pour fonctionner de mani\u00e8re autonome, effectuer des t\u00e2ches de base, naviguer seuls, percevoir la distance et manipuler leur environnement. L'assemblage simple et sans outil permet une construction rapide et les pi\u00e8ces peuvent \u00eatre remplac\u00e9es facilement \u00e0 l'aide d'une imprimante 3D. Les \u00e9quipes sont invit\u00e9es \u00e0 partager les kits avec d'autres \u00e9coles ou organisations qui souhaitent mettre en \u0153uvre ou d\u00e9velopper des programmes de robotique. Finalement, le WPI a int\u00e9gr\u00e9 dans son programme d'\u00e9tudes un kit de robot disponible dans le commerce que les \u00e9l\u00e8ves pouvaient acheter et construire chez eux. Une version similaire a ensuite \u00e9t\u00e9 utilis\u00e9e \u00e0 l\u00a0<em>FIRST<\/em>\u00a0comp\u00e9titions de robotique - l'une d'entre elles a pu utiliser le logiciel WPILib, que le WPI a cr\u00e9\u00e9 pour\u00a0<em>FIRST<\/em>\u00a0en 2009.
