Les graines plant\u00e9es par\u00a0FIRST<\/em>\u00a0Six ans seulement apr\u00e8s la premi\u00e8re \u00e9dition de l'initiative \"Global\", les \u00e9tudiants se transforment en chefs d'entreprise, en d\u00e9fenseurs et en mentors.\u00a0FIRST<\/em>\u00a0D\u00e9fi mondial. Voici l'histoire de Keeghan.<\/p>\n

Keeghan Patrick a particip\u00e9 en tant qu'\u00e9tudiante \u00e0 l'\u00e9dition 2017 de la conf\u00e9rence de l'Union europ\u00e9enne.\u00a0FIRST<\/em>\u00a0Global Challenge \u00e0 Washington, D.C., repr\u00e9sentant son pays, Sainte-Lucie. \u00c2g\u00e9 de 18 ans \u00e0 l'\u00e9poque, il est aujourd'hui dipl\u00f4m\u00e9 de l'universit\u00e9, a entam\u00e9 son programme de ma\u00eetrise au Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) et a fond\u00e9 la soci\u00e9t\u00e9\u00a0Orbtronics<\/a> - une entreprise technologique dont la mission est d'acc\u00e9l\u00e9rer la technologie dans les Cara\u00efbes en cr\u00e9ant des logiciels destin\u00e9s \u00e0 faciliter les programmes d'enseignement des STIM.<\/p>\n

J'ai remarqu\u00e9 l'importance du foss\u00e9 technologique qui nous s\u00e9pare des pays d\u00e9velopp\u00e9s. Mon cofondateur et moi sommes donc repartis avec le sentiment qu'il fallait faire quelque chose de diff\u00e9rent dans notre pays. Nous nous sommes dit : pourquoi ne pas mettre en place un programme d'enseignement des STIM et enseigner aux \u00e9l\u00e8ves ce que nous avons appris \u00e0 l'universit\u00e9 ?\u00a0FIRST<\/em>\u00a0Global ?\"<\/h5>\n

Aujourd'hui, son entreprise emploie 10 personnes qui travaillent toutes dans ce but.<\/p>\n

Cette ann\u00e9e, Keeghan et son cofondateur ont refond\u00e9 l'entreprise\u00a0FIRST<\/em>\u00a0Global Team Saint Lucia, qui \u00e9tait inactive depuis le D\u00e9fi 2018. Ce faisant, Keeghan a boucl\u00e9 la boucle en passant du statut d'\u00e9tudiant participant \u00e0 celui de mentor de l'\u00e9quipe, transmettant \u00e0 la prochaine g\u00e9n\u00e9ration de jeunes Saint-Luciens la m\u00eame opportunit\u00e9 de changement de vie qu'il a eue.<\/p>\n

Orbtronics Junior, un programme d'un mois pour les enfants \u00e2g\u00e9s de 11 \u00e0 16 ans qui comprend des d\u00e9fis pratiques pour les \u00e9quiper en robotique ou en python.<\/p><\/div>\n

\"Lorsque vous participez \u00e0\u00a0FIRST<\/em>\u00a0Globalement, vous en sortez avec une tr\u00e8s bonne histoire\", a-t-il d\u00e9clar\u00e9. \"Cela m'a permis d'\u00eatre reconnu lorsque j'ai postul\u00e9 pour des bourses d'\u00e9tudes, surtout si je viens d'un pays en voie de d\u00e9veloppement. Cela nous a montr\u00e9 que m\u00eame si nous venons d'une petite \u00eele, nous pouvons avoir un impact mondial. Nous voulions donner la m\u00eame chance aux \u00e9tudiants.<\/p>\n

Et l'impact porte d\u00e9j\u00e0 ses fruits. Cette ann\u00e9e, l'une des \u00e9l\u00e8ves de Keeghan, Nehal, a re\u00e7u le prix Temasek Women in STEM. Aujourd'hui, Nehal s'efforce d'organiser des ateliers STEM pour d'autres jeunes femmes dans tout son pays.<\/p>\n

M. Keeghan esp\u00e8re que son organisation pourra continuer \u00e0 d\u00e9velopper la\u00a0FIRST<\/em>\u00a0L'impact global \u00e0 Sainte-Lucie : \"Nous voulons voir comment nous pouvons rendre ce projet durable et comment nous pouvons faire en sorte qu'il y ait une \u00e9quipe de Sainte-Lucie chaque ann\u00e9e\".<\/p>\n
