Maldives team places second at ‘robotic Olympics’

Maldivian students have won second spot in an international robotics competition in Mexico.

The trio competed against teams from 175 countries in the FIRST Global Challenge.

The Maldives’ robot was made by teenagers Yameen Ushau from Majeedhiyya School, Ridha Anees of Jamaaludhin School and Hassan Nasih from the Center for Higher Secondary Education.

Their creation, Rani Kanbaa (queen lady), is remote-controlled and can carry objects. It was built in two months with equipment provided by the tournament organisers.
