Dzanga Matodzi is a grade 9 learner at Hoerskool Uitsig. Her most important aspiration in life is to be happy by seeing the lives of individuals improving due to her contribution in robotics. She would like to use this opportunity to gain as much knowledge as possible, adapt to the different surroundings that she will be in and build networks. She aspires to be a leader in the graphic designing field.

Masana Phumudzo Mashapha is a grade 10 learner at Pretoria Girls High. Masana is also a member of the Pretoria Girls High Robotics Club. She would like to use her learnings from the FIRST Global Challenge to assist her into benefiting the medical field in South Africa. Masana aspires to become a leader in the medical field in the future.

Tshenolo Mokwana is a grade 11 learner at Olievenhoutbos Secondary School. He feels that the experience gained and opportunity to work with robotics will allow him to better himself into a position to rid his family and community of poverty. He would also like to change the perspective of Mathematics in his community, by persuading learners to take Math as a life subject. Tshenolo has a dream to study neurology at Oxford University.

Barbara Moagi is a grade 12 learner at Hoerskool Uitsig, head girl and honorary white blazer wearer, also the Team Spokesperson. Barbara represented Team South Africa at the 2017 FIRST Global Inaugural Challenge. She aspires to further her education at an Ivy League University and obtain a degree in engineering. Through invention and innovation, she would like to be a part of improving the quality of the fast-evolving world of STEM – to enhance the livelihood of people in her country and across the globe. She would like her career to form a part of contributing to the eminent pool of female pioneers like Mary Jackson and Marie Curie and become one of the many catalysts to encourage young girls and women everywhere to join the fascinating and highly revolutionary field of STEM!

Mikhaeel Reddy is a grade 12 learner at Hoerskool Uitsig, head boy and honorary white blazer wearer, also the Team Captain. Mikhaeel represented South Africa at the 2017 FIRST Global Inaugural Challenge. He aspires to be an engineer bound by no field. His passion lie in Mechanics, Megatronics, Architecture and Design, Programming, Economics and Nature. His goal is to use his knowledge, experience and networks to impact the world positively by addressing the major crisis areas that are upon the 21st century. He feels honoured to once again be amoungst the youngest and brightest students from over 157 countries and believes that this generation by working together can solve these crisis’s we face; water, energy, poverty, economic downturn.
