Team Zimbabwe 2019 🇿🇼

Hello guys! We are Team Zimbabwe 2019 and we are excited to participate in #FGC2019 this year. We want to share with the world what we have and what we can do. Technology has altered almost every aspect of our lives and the world today is becoming so much more science-oriented and we need to be empowered to exploit and benefit from these developments. We love discovering stuff and we enjoy it the most when as a team we make mistakes and help each other identify and correct those mistakes. We believe that when concern for others replaces concern for self, our own progress is improved. We enjoy every step we are taking in making our robot because we are learning new skills along the way and we are grateful that this challenge is making all this happen. It’s not all easy, but we are confident that we can do it! We are geared for excellency and downright hardwork! We love the adventure and fun that comes along with it, but mostly we love that we can meet on common ground and build something great! We are looking forward to meeting our peers from all over the world, working, sharing and learning together. Everything about this whole journey is worthwhile, and we just hope other young people like us will also get an opportunity to embark on a journey like it. Robotics should be taken seriously in Zimbabwe and elsewhere, these are the skills of both today and tomorrow!

Delight Chirume
Hy guyz! My name is Delight Chirume, a lower six student studying Maths, Computer Science, and Business Studies. I’m so excited to be a member of the 2019 FIRST Global Challenge Team Zimbabwe. I am passionate about discovering new things and I love that through Robotics, I am discovering a lot of new stuff. I also love keeping myself updated with new discoveries and news from all over, and music, of course!

Kevin Mugura
My name is Kevin Mugura, 16 years, in lower six studying Maths, Physics and Computer Science. I joined robotics in February this year because it gives me the opportunity to apply theoretical knowledge into practical stuff. I’ve always been passionate about technology. Giving robotics a try was a great decision I made, not only did it help me in my school work, but I’ve learnt a lot, from leadership and teamwork to boosting my confidence. Well, other than robotics, I love music, I’m pretty good at dancing, I play basketball, and I’m a visual artist and a motivational speaker.

Tinotenda Kuipa
My name is Tinotenda Kuipa. I’m 18 years old studying lower six Maths, Accounts and Computer Science. I joined Robotics because it gives me the space to apply what I learn in class during my Computer Science classes and is a good way to make it sink in. Doing it practically makes it fun and easy to learn. I have been in love with computers since I was a kid and would love to create my own machine one day that everyone will want and find useful.

Takakundiswa ‘Zoe’ Musarurwa
My name is Zoe, 14 years old and I’m in form 2. I love Sciences and Computer Science and Sciences. I would want to become a Dentist one day. I spend most of my free time painting and I love reading novels. I love coding and I am glad to be participating in 2019 FIRST Global Challenge.

Tariro Nicole Zambasa
I am Tariro Nicole Zambasa, aged 17 from Harare, Zimbabwe. I am a member of the Robotics Team Zimbabwe and I’m much honoured and excited to be a part of this team. Robotics is something that I’ve grown to love as it always takes me back to designing and developing systems, which is exactly what I’m aspiring to do as I go into the field of Electrical Engineering. I love Mathematics, basically anything that has to do with calculations. I’m in Lower 6 studying Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry currently as a lower student. My Physics teacher introduced me to Robotics, I thought why not, and immediately fell in love with it. It has given me the opportunity to interact with various components such as sensors, microprocessors and motors, an early introduction to my career of choice – electrical engineering. I have since acquired valuable skills such as cooperation in a team, respect for fellow colleagues, empathy and logical and critical thinking. I urge more girls like me to try Robotics as well; it takes you out of your comfort zone. It is an empowering experience. I love writing, I just love the whole idea of expressing myself and I do a bit of poetry too. I love cooking and eating is the best part ☺
