Team Bhutan 2018

Rinzin Tsheten (Team Captain)
I am from a small village called Tendruk. In my school days I never had a “best subject” because I believe the books, chalks and the board were not good enough to take the best out of me. Now I work as a Faber in FabLab Bhutan and I feel like it’s the best platform for a person like me to prove myself. FabLab has been all about innovation and collaboration. I can work in many kinds of projects that I love to. It has been almost a year since I have joined FabLab Bhutan and until now I have been able to do 2d and 3d designing, html and java programming. I have also been doing projects like “Drones for medical transportations”.

Umesh Giri (Controller)
To write something about myself, I am a person who is very much into music and computers. I like to play musical instruments such as the guitar, piano and drums. I also like singing a lot. The other thing which I am very much into is computers. I like studying about computers and about how they work and function. I have recently completed class 12 from Ugyen Academy in Punakha and I have been selected to pursue Computer Science Engineering by the DAHE.

Ugyen Dendup (Driver)
My name is Ugyen Dendup and currently I am studying in 11 standards in Pelkhil School in Thimphu, Bhutan. I am so much interested in robotics because robotics is also a branch of STEM education and it’s an interdisciplinary subject which particularly deals with electronics works, computer science, mechanical designing and this all match with my hobbies, that’s why I am so much interested in robotics.

Tshewang Lhundrup (Mentor)
I’m Tshewang Lhundup and I’m the team’s mentor. I am a Technical Designer from Copenhagen Technical College, Copenhagen, Denmark.  I work as a programme manager at Fablab Bhutan, prior to which I conducted research with Massachusetts Institute of Technology and also with several different international agencies like Canon Denmark. I have been actively involved in FIRST Global since the start of our journey. My technical knowledge and years of experience will help the team to keep on learning.

Karma Lhakyi (Team Manager)
I’m Karma Lhakyi and I am the Team Manager. I joined Fablab Bhutan because female participation in the technology arena is very low. I believe technological advancement is key to a nation’s development. So, we need to take an active role in shaping young female minds to think innovatively, creatively, and make best use of technology.
Moreover, I coordinate the team’s efforts to achieve the best result and also, I take care during the whole process of construction of the robot.

We wish all the participants the very best of luck for the tournament and hope to see all of you in Mexico.
