We are secondary school students from Confey College, Leixlip in county Kildare. Confey is a mixed secondary school catering for 756 students studying 30 different subject areas. Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) subjects are very popular with all students taking science in their first three years. Our robotics team consists of 8 students: Aaron, Shivam, Kushal, Smrithi, Sophia, Joel, Ryan and Neha. We also have three mentors, Ms Selkirk (Maths/Physics Teacher and former FGC mentor) and Eoghan and Pawel (Former FGC participants). We are really enjoying the challenges presented by this competition. It offers so many opportunities for us to develop our design, programming, engineering and, most importantly our teamwork skills.

Smrithi Santhosh
Hey there, my name is Smrithi and I am part of the hardware design team. I think that I am a good fit for the team because I love designing and I have previous experience as I do Technical Graphics in school. I want to compete in the FIRST Global Challenge because I want to gain more experience in coding and tech.

Neha Maria Abey
Hi, My name is Neha and I’m 16 years old. I specialize in hardware design as I have experience in CAD. I wanted to compete in the FIRST Global Challenge because it would teach me a lot of valuable technological skills, and I’ve always been interested in STEM. Currently I am studying Design & Communication Graphics, Physics, Engineering and Applied Maths in school. I’m looking forward to studying structural engineering in college.

Joel Joseph Rajesh
Hi, my name is Joel. I am on the Media Team and the App Design Team. I think I am a good fit for the media team as I am consistent and I won’t miss any updates from the FIRST Global team. I also have experience in app making and coding for the App Design Team. I wanted to compete in the FIRST Global Challenge because I want to improve my tech skills, and I want to see how far our team can go this year in the FIRST Global Challenge.

Hi, my name is Ryan. I work on the App Design Team. I work well on that team because I have experience with coding apps and programs. I also study coding in school. I want to compete in the FIRST Global Challenge because I want to further my understanding of technology and coding. I also enjoy working on a team with my friends.

Sophia Shah
Hi, my name is Sophia and I’m part of the Hardware Design team. I think I’m a good fit for my role because I do consider myself to be a thorough researcher and am currently studying Technical Graphics in school, meaning I have some prior knowledge and experience when it comes to designing, planning, sketching ideas etc. I want to compete in the FIRST Global Challenge as I feel that it would be the perfect opportunity to learn more about STEM education, coding and engineering. I would also like to improve my presentation skills and see how other teams approached the given problems.

Hello there, my name is Kushal and I am 14 years old. I’m part of the video editing team for the infomercial. I think I am a suitable fit for this position as I have good experience in editing videos and I am good at making stop motion cartoons. The reason I wanted to take part in the FIRST Global Challenge is so I could be creative with my ideas and also because I could learn more about STEM and how we can use it to improve the world.
