Guam robotics team places 5th in the competition and 3rd in the ranked playoffs in Dubai

ROBOTICS: A Guam robotics team came in fifth in the FIRST Global Challenge and third in the ranked playoffs in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. More than 1,500 students ages 14-18 from 191 countries participated in the competition from Oct. 24 to 27. The team includes home-schooled and Guam Department of Education students from Okkodo, Simon Sanchez, George Washington and Tiyan high schools. The team members are: Bazyll Garcia, Lexis Sablan, Danny Morta, Benjamin Kim, Avinash Dhanraj, Daniel Iriarte, Lord Mabalot, Darryl Mercado, Ely John Catalan, team coach Roderick Hidalgo, and team mentor Leah Beth O. Naholowaa.
