06 Sep Science, technology challenge for USP students in Singapore

A group of four youngsters with a flair for science and technology have joined hands to represent Fiji at the FIRST Global Challenge in Singapore next month. The BulaBots Fiji team is being mentored by USP associate professor of electrical and electronic engineering Utkal Mehta. Professor Mehta said the meet was a way of preparing more students – especially young women – to join the science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fields, which had traditionally been male-dominated. The participants are USP foundation students, and their task is to engineer a robot capable of surmounting the challenges awaiting them in Singapore.
