Dr. Sawsan Asjee’ at the Faculty of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Department of Computer Engineering at the University of Aleppo, and a certified robotics trainer at the Syrian Scientific Informatics Society, explained that the “Sibots” team, an independent team, launched from a group of engineers who participated in robotic competitions in Syria and Lebanon previously on behalf of Damascus University and others, and that the team’s activities and courses are currently limited to hosting the International Alphabet Foundation for Training and Rehabilitation, noting that the team has participated since its inception in 2019 in the FIRST Global Challenge — a global competition held every year hosted by a specific country and with the participation of one team from each country (for robotics), meaning that the team is required to design a robot to carry out a specific task, and it is directed to secondary school students mainly, and it focuses largely on the concepts of STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics). And in 2019, the competition was held in Dubai, and its activities lasted for 3 days, and included the opening ceremony, training and qualifying rounds, in addition to the final rounds, and the number of participants in it reached 189 countries, and although the equipment did not reach the Syrian team until 10 years ago. Traveling days, the team got the 56th position.

Asjia pointed out that the competition is now being held online, and its content has been completely changed, due to global conditions since 2020, as the competition focuses on developing many different skills in addition to technical skills, as it consists of a number of tasks, the team performs Filming videos and discussing various topics, and is subject to challenges related to discussing community problems, finding solutions and implementing them, in addition to medium technical challenges, noting that the competition began this year on June 27, and the competition and challenges are scheduled to continue until September 18, as the current team consists of 5 Students and 3 trainers in Damascus and 3 students and a trainer in Aleppo.
