Team United States of America 2017

Team United States of America loves meeting and working with other teams from around the world, and we are so excited to be a part of the inaugural FIRST Global competition! Our team is made of two members from Schrödinger’s Hat, a high-school robotics team from Everett, Washington, and one member from WAGS, an all-Girl Scout robotics team from Princeton, New Jersey. We’ve all been involved in FIRST robotics programs for more than 7 years, competing in FIRST LEGO League, FIRST Tech Challenge, and FIRST Robotics Competition.

Sanjna Ravichandar is the co-captain and lead programmer of WAGS. Sanjna spends her time working with the Girl Scouts Council to extend STEM in her community by leading programming workshops and summer camps. She also works to promote FIRST and STEM at several organizations, including the YWCA, NRG, and other institutions targeting underprivileged youth. Sanjna was recognized as a 2016 FIRST Dean’s List recipient for her outreach and leadership within FIRST.

Colleen and Katie Johnson are members of Schrödinger’s Hat, and both are responsible for robot design, fabrication, documentation, and outreach. Colleen is also primarily responsible for CAD and visual media. Katie is the programmer and business lead.

In 2015 they were honored to receive the Inspire Award — the most prestigious award in FIRST Tech Challenge — at the World Championship! In 2016 they were part of the Finalist Alliance at the World Championship, and Colleen was also named a FIRST Dean’s List recipient, recognizing her extensive outreach and leadership in the FIRST community. Sanjna and Colleen met at the FIRST Dean’s List Summit.

We are honored to be representing the US in this competition, and all three of us are looking forward to meeting the teams involved in FIRST Global!
