27 Jul Team Zambia 2019 🇿🇲
Zambia Robotics is an initiative of the Zambian Institute for Sustainable Development (ZISD): a youth-run organization that spearheads youth-centric initiatives aimed at developing Zambia by empowering its people. The 2019 Robotics team is the third team to represent Zambia at the FIRST Global Robotics Challenge. Guess third timeʼs the charm, because this yearʼs team is the definition of different, culturally diverse, and…predominantly Female! With a total of fourteen members itʼs safe to say that there are enough hands on the team to not drop the ball. Though many things distinguish The Dream Team with their robot, Lota, what stands out is their passion for robotics and their drive to win.
Adversity is not a factor for this determined bunch, who prefer to smell the roses whenever they are faced with a challenge. These eagles, Zambia’s national bird, from the Zambezi are aiming for the skies because eagles were meant to fly. Participating in this year’s robotics challenge will not only inspire the youth in their country of 17 million people, but also will inspire the team to do more during and after the competition.
“We will be representing Zambia, which is not a right but a rare privilege. For this reason, we are extremely grateful to have the chance and platform to represent our country and home at an international level such as the FIRST Global Challenge to be held in Dubai this October. Working with individuals from across the world will be an incredible experience. We cannot wait.”
