08 Jul Team Cayman Islands 2021 🇰🇾
The Cayman Islands Robotics Team is a diverse group of students from schools across the Cayman Islands. This is the 4th year that we will have a team. We are sponsored by Minds Inspired, which is a program run by DART (a local company) to support STEM initiatives in the Cayman Islands. We are all working together at Cayman International School, one of our local International schools. We are very excited to be part of the FIRST Global program this year!
Sahil Jyoti:
I am 16 years old and currently about to enter Year 13 at St Ignatius Catholic School. I take chemistry, physics, mathematics and biology for my A levels and am an aspiring medical student. I have been a part of the robotics program at St Ignatius for 3 years since its inception and currently hold the position of Senior Operations Engineer. I also participated in the FGC in the year 2020. I joined this year’s FGC team as this year I believe I will get more hands-on experience and role in the team because the competition is not restricted to online challenges. In addition, I would also like to honor the legacy of my teacher Mr Abrantes who is the reason I love STEM and ever got into robotics.
Connor Finch:
I am 15 years old, and I have lived in the Cayman Islands my whole life. My mom is Canadian and my dad is Zimbabwean. I go to Cayman International School, and I have gone there my whole life. This is my first time being involved in robotics, but I look forward to building robots that will take over the world.
Tobi Wejbora:
My whole family is from Austria, however I was born in a small town in Wales where I lived for around 10 years. I then moved to the Cayman Islands where I enrolled at Cayman International School. During my 6th year at CIS I joined the robotics team. My initial interests of joining the team stem from my love of technology and mechanical systems. After being part of the robotics team for over a year, I decided to join the FGC robotics team, where I hope to expand my current knowledge on robotics and the skill set that comes with it.
Michael Marzouca:
I am 15, I was born here in the Cayman Islands. I have gone to school and have always been interested in STEM and robotics. Other interests include: english literature, fishing, dichotomous classification, and swimming.
Nicole Kiełczewski:
I am 16 years old and I am the Polish member with the most complicated last name nobody can pronounce. I grew up in the Cayman Islands and my favorite subjects at school were always the sciences. I have been a part of the robotics program at St Ignatius for 2 years and I enjoy taking part in robotics because it helps develop lots of innovative and teamwork skills.
Arjun Dhanasekar:
I’m 17 years old and enjoy playing the trombone. My friends say that my personality aligns with that of an old educated conservative because my opinions align with them and so do my robotics skills. This would be true if I had friends.
Ocean Edwards:
I am 16 years old and I play football and I am currently pursuing a career in the sport. My favorite class is biology and I would like to study biotech. I started robotics to make something that does a task with my own hands.
