25 Jun Team Colombia 2021 🇨🇴
We are Team Colombia. Since 2018, we have adopted the values of FIRST Global, inspiring girls and boys to love STEM. Our community has grown since then, with more and more mentors and college students pursuing STEM careers.
This is our team:
My name is Alejandra Vidal Girón, I am a 16 year old girl who is in eleventh grade at the I.E. Nuestra Señora del Palmar is the headquarters of the Liceo Femenino, and I am an aspiring graduate in Physics. I have excellent leadership attitudes, capable of teamwork, with exceptional responsibility, sagacity and discipline. I am passionate about science, sports and reading. I like to read all kinds of books, and in my free time I usually go to the gym. In addition, I practice Mountain Bike (MTB) since it offers me the possibility of contemplating unique landscapes while I exercise, in addition, it can be practiced in a group, improving teamwork and turning physical obstacles into challenges that increase capacity of overcoming in the personal field.
My name is Simón Barrera RuÃz, I am a 14 year old boy living in Palmira. At the moment, I am finishing 9th grade at San José Campestre bilingual school. As for my hobbies, I love music, video games, and riding a bike; however, what I am most passionate about is technology, with all that it entails, hardware and software, everything… I like to program, edit, and try new things, as for that, I never get tired of learning, for me, the more I know, the better. Lately I’ve been thinking that the taste I have for those last things is because of the desire and taste I’ve had since I was a child to create things. I assume that’s what editing, programming or building, ordering or creating a set of things with which to create something completely new and different is all about. For that same reason, because of the love I have for creating and inventing things, for the last 2 years I have decided what I am going to study, I want to specialize in industrial design. Also, about a year ago, I also decided that I was going to complement it with industrial engineering. Since they are so similar, it is easy to find good universities that have a way to study them both at the same time. With that, I hope to be able to graduate and be able to work in what I like the most, creating new things based on the STEAM system.
I’m Juliana Andrea Gómez Peláez, I was born in Cali, Valle del Cauca. I’m currently in the eleventh grade at I.E. Nuestra Señora del Palmar, I study English (B1) and Japanese in a self-taught way. Besides being passionate about robotics, I’m passionate about reading, writing, theorizing and urban in-line skating. My life goal, apart from being a great engineer, is to be an “icon of freedom and knowledge”, since I like “social work” with minorities or “social outcasts” as LGBTQ+.
My name is David Muñoz Vargas. I was born in Cali, Colombia. A year after my birth I moved with my family to Palmira where I attended preschool, elementary school and I am currently attending high school at the Jorge Eliecer Gaitan Educational Institution. My goal is to be able to have a university career related to technology, although I am not yet decided on a specific career and my reason for being in the 2021 FIRST Global Challenge as one of the representatives of Team Colombia is to be able to have a personal development, gain experience and to be able to advance in my professional career.
My name is Laura Sofia Ramirez Manzano, I am 13 years old, the school where I study is I.E JEGA, I am in ninth grade and I like physics. In my free time I like to draw, and I would like to study nutrition when I grow up. I am in this group because I like to explore and learn new things about technology.
My name is Valentina Moreno Caicedo, I am 16 years old and I am from Palmira, Valle del Cauca. I currently live with my mom, my dad and my sister. I study at the San Vicente Educational Institution, in which I am studying the tenth grade and from which I hope to graduate next year. My goal is to be a professional, studying mechatronics engineering, since it is something that I really like and am passionate about. I think that being part of the robotics team will be very useful to me, it will allow me to acquire and develop knowledge, skills and experiences to achieve my main objective.
