We are team Armenia from United World College Dilijan (UWCD), an international school in which our drive for inspiring change and stimulating challenges have brought us together from all parts of the world. In Armenia, where cultures intersect to tell the story of one of the oldest nations in the world, our love for STEM united us. All the way from Morocco, Denmark, The Netherlands, Bulgaria, Russia, and Armenia, our team members combined their backgrounds and skills from all over the world to revive the Robotics club on our campus. Spoiler alert, our hard work paid off, as we are honored to take part in the 2022 edition of the FIRST Global Challenge as representatives of Team Armenia.

With hearts and minds full of determination to work towards peace and a sustainable future, we decided to make use of our privilege as UWCD students to make a positive change. FIRST Global’s marriage of innovation and change-making represents the perfect challenge for our team, especially when it directly concerns environmental issues. Though we come from different parts of the world, climate change embodies a reminder that we are all on the same boat. The implications of high carbon footprints have impacted all of our countries in a way or another, alarming us that it is time to use our skills and knowledge to make a difference. Paying homage to our host country Armenia and uniting our strengths in Robotics to create tangible solutions to carbon emissions as a severe environmental issue, is a great opportunity for us to show the world that we do not only care, but we act on what matters.

As Team Armenia, we are living proof of how different individuals can come together for a bigger cause. We are an embodiment of how differences can be overlooked to make positive change, and to work towards a better world. Just like different cultures intersect in transcaucasia to create the great nation of Armenia, we strive to bring our knowledge and skills together to innovate a sustainable future.
