Greetings from Team Brunei Darussalam. Our team consists of 2 girls and 4 boys from Sekolah Tahfiz and Sekolah Awang Semaun. We are excited to be part of this year’s FIRST Global competition, Carbon Capture. After two years of global pandemic, it is great to able to participate face-to-face.

This year’s challenge Carbon Capture highlights how climate change is among the most pressing issues facing human society today. We as global citizens are witnessing more frequent drought, storms, flooding, heat waves, rising sea levels and greenhouse gas emission.

In combating climate change Brunei Darussalam has joined the HEART of BORNEO initiative committed to preserve its forest. Brunei has one of the oldest and most pristine rainforest in the world. Brunei has forest coverage of 72% with a capacity to absorb about 13.9 MTCO2e of carbon emission a year.

We love our rainforest and we want to build robots that will protect the environment and combat climate change. One robot won’t solve all of our climate problems, but together we can create many different types of robots that will make a difference.
