Team Cambodia 2022 🇰🇭

Team Cambodia FIRST Global Challenge 2022 consists of ten 11th graders and one 12th grader student from E2STEM Education Cambodia. Five members of the team come from the provinces. For all of us, exposure to hands-on STEM learning is relatively new and everyone is starting to form more interest in applying STEM knowledge to address challenges in social, environmental and education through various school projects, competition and training.

Yiyi is a 16 years old female student in grade 11th. She has been interested in robotics since she was young because of the cartoon show that she watched and was amazed by their cool appearance. After coming to E2STEM and participating in various events such as Arduino Challenge and Robot club, she has known that not only it’s cool but we can use it to help humanity and our environment in many ways. In the future, she would love to pursue a career in the robotic field.

Serei Wung is a 16 years old male student in grade 11th. Before coming to E2STEM, he has always dreamt of solving environmental problems in Cambodia. Having been accepted into E2STEM, the first ever class STEM project was about a plan for carbon capture. He and his classmate have been figuring out solutions, looking from both a physics perspective (using electricity to capture the CO2 ions) and a chemistry perspective (using chemical reaction to make carbonic acid). For someone who has few chances to work in a team, let alone solving such an impactful problem, he had fun and enjoyed every single second while finishing the project.

Panhapich is an 18 years old female student in grade 11th. Before she studied at E2STEM, she was a student from Kratie province. She became interested in robotics since she became a student at E2STEM. At first, Pich didn’t know what code or STEM was but after joining some activities at school she wanted to know more about robotics. Moreover, she thinks that she wants to solve problems by using technology and wants to encourage other people to start having interest in STEM.

Laychhoung is a 16 years old male student in grade 11th. He came from a province where technology, computer science and environmental knowledge are not well-known. However, since he came to study in Phnom Penh, he has been inspired by his teachers and seniors that technology could help the environment become better. He would love to see a better glimpse of eco-friendly development in his community through his passion for changing society plus the remarkable application in science subjects he has learnt. He is delighted for this chance to put his hands on the challenges that may solve our world’s problems.

Sovanncheat is a 16 years old male student in grade 11th. As a child, he liked to create new cars and boats from his old toy. In addition, he became interested in robotics and technology when he visited the Stem show at his school. He also participated in Arduino challenge 2021 which is a competition let all participator come up with the best solution idea to solve a social problem by doing a prototype product and making a presentation to judges and audiences. And then, he joined another competition is TSEP4.0 to learn about 3D design and make as prototype car. He enjoyed those chances which pushed up his passion in robotics and technology. Moreover, he is willing to solve the crisis of climate change and reduce CO2 in our environment.

Kimeng is a 17 years old female student in grade 11th. She has a passionate interest in solving environmental problems in Cambodia. After coming to E2STEM, she got more chances to be involved in science projects. She has successfully completed the Siemens Digital Industries Software certification exam requirements for Solid Edge Associate Level Certification. She’s always taken part in environmental competitions. She’s also a part of “Let’s Plant!” project which is hosted by JCI Chaktomuk Cambodia.

Sovathana is a 17 years old male student in grade 11th. Having life as a student is the best part of his life because at this time his character and education with the environment have grown. Being a part of the team is an opportunity to participate as an environmentalist and technologist. Lately, he found out he was interested in helping reduce greenhouse gas so much.

Laksmey is a 16 years old female student in grade 11th. She has a strong passion for science especially physics since she has been participating as a grade 9th physics outstanding student. She loves to gain proficiency with the concepts and the processes of the science theories particularly the electricity and mechanics. These things inspire her into the robotic field. According to her society, she observes that there are many polluted environments, and she has planned to create one kind of robot that will help to reduce them. She believes that something extraordinary is ready to be known while robotics will assist us to discover the breakthrough which will lead our imagination to reality. In the future, she wants to become a mechatronics engineer.

Panha is a 17 years old male student in grade 11th. Panha is interested mostly in finding new ways to solve problems using technology and loves learning about new theoretical ideas. Soon after joining the E2STEM school program, he was inspired by the technology he had seen and used around him. After that he began his journey in learning about robotics, coding and computer science. Ever since until now he has been learning about coding and robotics in hopes of solving problems around him, especially the environment.

Ranita is a 16 years old female student in grade 11th. Ranita is from Kompong Speu province. Before she became an E2STEM student she had never heard about coding, robots or technology and did not know what she wanted to do in the future. As Technology advanced, she started to know more about HTML, Python and Thunkable (after joining Technovation Girl Challenge).. It helped her find new things and wanted to know more about coding. It inspired her to want to become a software engineer who is a good coder.

Sorany is an 18 years old female student in grade 12th. Since joining E2STEM, she has found herself interested in robotics, technology, and engineering. She wants to find out more about what she is interested in and to gain more skills and knowledge to use it to help solve problems in her society. To learn and find out more about her interests, she also gives herself many opportunities to get closer to robots and technology by participating in competitions and joining projects such as the STEM Festival, First Global and World Robot Olympiad Virtual games.
