Team Gambia comprises three students from Nusrat Senior Secondary School, Gambia Senior Secondary School, and Marina International School with varying skill sets, and two mentors dedicated to supporting the work of these students in achieving the goal of taking part in challenges posed at the 2022 FIRST Global Challenge. Despite having different backgrounds, all our members share a passion for learning about science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). This will be the first time that any of the pupils have ever taken part in the FIRST Global Challenge. However, everyone is eager to learn and delighted to start building the robots and solving problems.

The team is brought together by Gambia Participates, a youth-tech-friendly civil society organization that leverages the power of modern technology to create awareness on pressing issues, and avail access to useful data and information. It has worked hard to nurture and mentor young boys and girls within the Gambian tech ecosystem by inspiring them to pursue a career in STEM through platforms like the FIRST Global Challenge.

Last year, Team Gambia was awarded 3rd position in the health category of FGC 2021 competition, and this year the goal is to achieve such a feat again.
