Team Honduras 2022 🇭🇳

The Honduran Robotics Team is currently made up of sixteen young students and twelve mentors, who come from educational centers in the southern region of Intibucá, one of the eighteen departments of our country.

Our National Robotics Team was created as an initiative of Shoulder to Shoulder, a non-profit organization that dedicates great efforts to improve the quality of education in the border sector of our department. In 2017, we participated in the inaugural challenge of the FIRST Global robotics competition. Although it was a challenging challenge to face something unknown, we got the 40th position in the global ranking of 163 participating countries. The following year, we were once again invited to the competition that took place in Mexico City, where we achieved very positive results by climbing up the ranking to 16th position out of 193 countries. In addition, we obtained a silver medal in the design and engineering of the robot. For the year 2019, motivated by previous participations, our team ranked among the best 21 in the world and we positioned ourselves in first place in Latin America. Likewise, the second place in history and trajectory was achieved. During the COVID-19 pandemic, our team continued to participate in FIRST Global’s virtual competitions, “Connecting Communities” and “Discover and Recover”, in which we reached positions 23 and 21 in the global ranking, respectively. In the area of education, the construction of our STEM center was highlighted, as a product of the work and determination shown in the previous competitions.

Due to the trajectory that the team has had, the excitement that we are experiencing this year is great, so our joy at being in another FIRST Global Challenge is evident because it renews our spirit of collaboration together with many teams around the world. Taking this wonderful feeling into consideration, we commit to work hard in order to fulfill our goal of being worthy representatives of our country and brilliant citizens of the world. Therefore, we want to share our experiences, culture and skills to improve communication with other teams, with whom we join efforts to find solutions to the main problems we face in this generation.
