Team Puerto Rico 2022 🇵🇷

Hi, we are Team Puerto Rico! We are a community team made up of 5 high school students from 2 different schools, who have excelled in STEM fields, but have no previous experience with FTC or FRC robots. Nevertheless, we make up in dynamism and enthusiasm what we lack in FIRST robotics experience. We are all committed to working together, serving as STEM ambassadors for public school students and making a difference in the world. We look forward to this year’s FIRST Global Challenge in Geneva and have the incredible opportunity to meet and exchange ideas with teams from all over the world.

About our team members:

¡Hola! My name is Andrea and I’m a senior at Cupeyville School located in San Juan, Puerto Rico. I’m interested in studying biomedical engineering and took a summer class offered by Brown University this past summer. I love mathematics, working with others and solving problems. I was selected as our team’s captain and spokesperson this year. I look forward to leading the team and becoming a STEM ambassador throughout the island, with a special focus on promoting STEM interest in girls.

¡Saludos! My name is Iván Ruiz and I’m a Junior at Colegio San Vicente de Paul in San Juan, Puerto Rico. I have been interested in robotics since the sixth grade when one of my teachers invited me to join the school robotics FIRST LEGO League team. I have always had a strong interest in STEM and, in the future, I want to be a general surgeon. My role in the team is programming leader.

¡Qué tal! My name is Pedro Díaz and I’m a sophmore student at Cupeyville School. I joined the robotics club in 9th grade and became very interested in robotics because I enjoy the challenge of analyzing problems and developing solutions through teamwork, building and programming. I wish to study computer engineering when I graduate high school and I’m our team’s inventory manager / CAD designer.

¡Buenas! I am Andrés, currently a 10th grade student at Cupeyville School. My first experience with robotics happened at the Polytechnic University of Puerto Rico, where I went to a robotics/coding summer camp. After that, I took a STEM/Robotics class at my school, which furthered my interest. I aspire to study architecture in college and become an architect. I am the social media manager and video editor of our team.

¡Qué es la que! I am Leobardo, a 10th grade high school student at Cupeyville School in San Juan. I became intrigued with robotics and programing when I took the STEM robotics class in school last year. My goal is to have a career in engineering in the future and want to acquire as much knowledge and experience to accomplish it. I am our team’s lead engineer.

Thank you to our supporters!
