Hi! We are Team Somalia, and we are happy to participate this year in this global scientific event in Geneva, Switzerland 13-16 October, and we thank the organizing committee for taking this challenge, also we are happy as a Somali community that we can finally demonstrate the capabilities and skills of our students and exchange knowledge and information with our friends around the world and be the best representatives of our dear countries. This country has a great history and presents many scientists, engineers and thinkers who have left their marks throughout history.

Our team consists of seven members, and we live in different regions of the homeland, yet we communicate daily through social media and meet at leisure and on public holidays in the academy to practice our favorite hobby designing and programming robots and their various applications and the integration of science (STEAM).

We are ready to compete in this global competition and we look forward to putting Somalia among the developed countries scientifically and technologically despite the difficult circumstances that our beloved country (Somalia) has gone through.

We salute all our friends all over the world and are happy to meet them in this global Scientific, Engineering, Technology and Mathematics (STEM) Competition to share science and knowledge with them despite different cultures and dialects. Our passion for science, knowledge, love, and peace brings us together.

Meet Members of Team Somalia!

I’m Malyun Abdullahi Hussein, I’m a web and graphic designer and I’d like to be in the future Artificial Intelligence (AI). I like reading books, either fiction or nonfiction, and watching movies like Marvels and Comedians.

My name is Ramlo Ahmed Hassan, I’m graphic designer I’d like to be a Web developer. In my free time I like listening and reading stories.

My name is Abdifitaf Yusuf Osman, I would like to be an engineer in the field of computer engineering. I like playing football, reading novels, and swimming. I work hard to achieve my goal. I am very capable, and my favorite subjects are math, physics, and science. I am a very humble person, and I like to learn new things.

My name is Abdulkadir Abdi Khalaf, I’m mobile App developer and Programmer, I would like to be a programmer in the future. That’s my dream job. I aspire to become a computer scientist. What inspired me to join Team Somalia is my love for learning new things and I intend to use technology to make human lives better. My hobbies include Robotics.

My name Abdullahi Mohamed Hassan, I’m Full stack developer. He is also a passionate young innovator who aspires to make the world a better place through the power of STEM. He’s key interest is in IoT and robotics. As a newbie in the line of technology Abdullahi works hard to sharpen his skills in programming languages such as python and JavaScript.

Abdullahi Mowlid is the Team Captain and Mentor, he is a well-known engineer who works in the Field of Robotics and STEM Education, He is passionate about developing new ideas for the Somali community for the future, he likes working in the field of embedded systems and is currently involved at Somali Innovation Center. He is a self-taught Maker, innovator, and STEM community leader in Somalia and has an interest in Machine Learning. He enjoys participating in hackathons and team-building initiatives.

Salah Muhsin is the assistant Team Mentor with a passion for technology and Robotics. He is skilled in coding, Robotics, STEM Education, IOT as well as an opportunity to establish meaningful networks for his future careers. He graduated from Network & Electronics Engineering from Outside Country and is involved with building systems in local startups. He hopes to empower his fellow youth and all of Africa in using tech to solve problems in our communities, He believes in using lines of code to change the world.
