26 May Team Tunisia 2022 🇹🇳
Meet Team Tunisia, the team that will be representing Tunisia during the 6th Edition of the FIRST Global Challenge!
Team Tunisia, this year, is composed of 5 talented teenage students who are all members in the First Skills Club association. Though very different, they all share the same goal: making their country prosper and solving community issues through STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics).
Eya Lahiani, 15.
Eya is a 15-year-old second grade student at Farhat Hached Pioneer High School Sfax. She became interested in STEAM when she first got introduced to the First Skills Club 7-8 years ago.
Eya would like to become a Space Engineer or a Particle Scientist when she grows up in order to study the complex, yet fascinating worlds beyond ours. Hopefully, her participation in the FIRST Global Challenge will open for her the doors to such opportunities.
This year, she was selected to be part of the national team and will be 2022 Team Tunisia’s Spokesperson and Programmer. She is extremely excited to experience this new journey, as she would like to discover what it is like to participate in such competitions and how it will affect her afterwards.
Mahmoud Fgaier, 16.
Currently, he is a third Grade student at Mohammed Ali High School in Sfax, Tunisia.
Meet Mahmoud Fgaier, a 16-year-old guy who has always been so passionate about robotics since his childhood. Indeed, that is why he joined the First Skills Club where he was exposed to all kinds of opportunities. One of them was back in 2021 when he and his team won the Excellence Award in the VEX IQ National Competition.
Mahmoud would like to become a Mechanical Engineer when he grows up. As for now, though, he is FIRST Global Challenge 2022 Team Tunisia’s Driver.
Mohamed Ben Haj, 16.
Mohamed Ben Haj is a 16-year-old Second Grade student at Sakiet Ezzit Pioneer High School. He was interested in Energy and 3D since his childhood, which is why he joined the First Skills Club to share this passion with others and develop himself.
His passion grew bigger as time went by and in due time, he became a 3D Coach Assistant. Thus, he will be Team Tunisia’s Designer during the 6th Edition of the FIRST Global Challenge.
Now, the time has finally come for him to push past his limits and contribute to honouring his country as the 3D Designer and Builder of FIRST Global Challenge Team Tunisia 2022.
Islem Ben Haj, 17.
Introducing 17-year-old Islem Ben Haj, the Engineering Notebook Writer of FIRST Global Challenge Team Tunisia 2022. Islem is a Baccalaureate student at Habib Maazoun High School in Sfax, Tunisia, which has been a great challenge for her throughout our preparations.
She became interested in Robotics when she attended a training course delivered by Mrs. Faten Khalfallah Hammouda a while back. Ever since, she has never ceased to climb her way up, to improve and to discover her abilities. Now, she is aiming to be more innovative and to honour her country by becoming a member of the FIRST Global Challenge Team Tunisia 2022.
“I want to benefit from it [my experience in the FIRST Global Challenge] to discover my hidden skills for a better future, to encourage girls to join STEM education, and to honour my beautiful home country,” She always says.
Mahasen Drira, 19.
The ever so cheerful and energetic person behind our camera and our unity is our Media Person and Team Captain: Mahasen Drira or who we would like to call Mahsouna.
Mahsouna has been a curious girl since her childhood. To discover her various and diverse passions, she tried a variety of hobbies where she discovered her athletic abilities, musical talent, and camping interest. At a certain point in her self-discovery journey, she joined the First Skills Club five years ago and ever since, she has developed her interest in robotics and new technologies.
Mahsouna believes that nothing is more expensive than an opportunity to develop. That is why she did not miss the chance to be Team Tunisia’s Captain and Media Person during the FIRST Global Challenge 2022.
“It is now our duty to carry on the legacy of the Tunisia-representing teams. Hopefully, we will bring honour and prosperity upon our homeland!” – Eya Lahiani, Spokesperson of Team Tunisia
