Team Canada 2023 🇨🇦

Team Canada is a community team from FIRST® Robotics. This means that we are supported by our local science center, TELUS World of Science – Edmonton, and accept any student to join our team, regardless of their skill level or background. It also means that we have a great facility with lots of resources that are accessible to us. Team Canada is an inspiring collective of young innovators determined to leave an indelible mark in the realm of robotics. Fueled by curiosity and a relentless pursuit of excellence, we embody the true spirit of teamwork and gracious professionalism. Team Canada meets in the Science Garage makerspace of the TELUS World of Science – Edmonton. We consist of students between grades 7-12 from all over Edmonton, Alberta. This makes us a team of constantly evolving team members and many of them come back to mentor. We are quite a big team that consists of 12 team members, 2 coaches, and 6 mentors. Some of the team members knew each other before joining from a variety of places.

We are quite the unique team as we don’t work out of a school but we work out of a public space, this allows us to interact with people who visit the science center and spread the word about FIRST. This makes it very easy to do a lot of excellent quality outreach. For example, the team had the opportunity to partake in the Edmonton Maker Faire, an event dedicated to the demonstration of making and creating. As part of the TELUS World of Science – Edmonton’s booth, our robotics team took part in volunteering in an effort to show off our work and introduce robotics in an inclusive and accessible manner for children and adults alike.
