Coming from a small group of islands in the South Pacific, Team BulaBots 2023 is incredibly esteemed to have the privilege of representing our noble banner blue. The team consists of five students with a passion for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics, our different skill sets and ideas come together to innovate solutions to prevalent problems in our country, and around small island nations such as Climate Change.

Team BulaBots from Fiji believes that the solutions lie in integration of traditional knowledge and innovative technology, along with the support of the global community. We believe that no one is in this fight alone. As such, we are glad to be taking part in this competition organized by FIRST Global, whose values align with ours.

Our country, although still developing, has made many strides in an effort to tackle the Climate Issue. The governments past have passed legislation to protect our land, sea, and skies, as well as provided incentives for businesses and individuals to do the same. Due to our geographical location, we are able to take full advantage of the elements, harnessing the wind, sun, water, and the earth’s heat itself to, in part, renewably power the nation. Despite this immense effort, the country still is not fully powered by renewable sources. With this year’s theme, Hydrogen Horizons, Team BulaBots would like to take this opportunity to learn about this untapped energy source from other countries and, upon returning, implement what we’ve learned in our communities.
