Team Italy 2023 🇮🇹

Hello! we are team ….. Planck Team and we come from Lancenigo, near Treviso, Italy. We are a group of students attending Max Planck High School, a technical and scientific institute.

Our team is composed of students of various ages that study different disciplines such as computer technology, electronics, telecommunications, automations and scientific subjects. This characteristic allows us to collaborate with one another, and exchange many ideas for mutual and personal enrichment, but also to help us create better and more efficient robots.

What makes us unique is also our story. Planck Team started its activities almost 10 years ago in the FLL field and brought over time numerous satisfactions and victories that, as time passed, made us stronger. For example we joined the European Open in Denmark in 2017, obtaining a good positioning, and in 2021 we placed second at the World championship, becoming the second strongest team in the world! In particular the second one was really difficult cause of the covid-19 pandemic, but thanks to the fact that we’ve never stopped working and continued meeting online we were able to do it all together.

As a matter of fact for us this group is more than just a team: we are friends, we help each other grow and learn things that we didn’t know before because we realize that each of us have different abilities; people also continue to come and help as mentors once they have finished high school, to try and teach all the students that have just started experiencing FIRST activities. All these things together contribute to create a special atmosphere that goes beyond school, because we feel this group as a second family, where mentors can share all their knowledge.

But how did we discover FTC? It was actually during the first championship in Houston that we were particularly impressed by this new competition that didn’t yet exist in Italy. That’s why last year we decided that we were ready to be involved in a harder competition and so take part to FTC and now participate to FGC. Thanks to this we were able to discover that other people are so interested in our project, and till now we are so proud of the results we’ve reached in this short period.

What unites our group is a strong passion for science and robotics, and by putting all our qualities, abilities and competencies into play, we are able to achieve excellent results that give us a strong motivation to reach even higher goals.

This continuous work and interpersonal exchange made us more confident, capable of working in a group, as well as learning to consider aspects that we would have never thought of and discussing all together to find the most interesting and effective solution. For example while we were working on the FLL robot we encountered some problems and in time we made lot of changes only thanks to cooperation between team members; for example during the years we decided to change the controllers a few times: we started by using the old NXT, then we passed onto the EV3 because it had more ports and at last to SPIKE because it allowed us program with more liberty. Now we are proud to use the new REV hub because we find it an even more flexible controller to work with thanks to the inputs and outputs available.

We also value STEM, considering it an important part for the future, especially for girls of the team that discovered new scientific and technical disciplines, and for students that next year will start working or going to university that learned how to work in a team.

Thank you to our supporters!
