Meet the Pioneers: Team Kazakhstan at FGC 2023

Introducing the vibrant minds representing Kazakhstan at the 2023 FIRST Global Challenge (FGC), where innovation meets determination. Our team, a blend of unique skills and shared passion for robotics, emerged triumphantly from a rigorous selection competition held in September 2023, standing out among more than 100 proficient teams from across Kazakhstan. Now, we are geared up to showcase our technical prowess on the global stage.

I am Nurislam, the 17-year-old captain of Team Kazakhstan. My journey in STEM commenced 4 years ago, and it has been a riveting expedition of discovery since then. When I am not immersed in robotics, I am either honing my skills in the boxing ring or chasing a soccer ball on the field.

Meet Sergey Gaponov, the code maestro of our team. For the past three years, Sergey has been orchestrating symphonies of code that breathe life into our robots. His knack for software engineering has been instrumental in propelling our team forward, one algorithm at a time.

I am Nursultan, a fervent robotics aficionado with a penchant for expanding my horizons. When I am not tinkering with robots, I am either shooting hoops on the basketball court or delving into the endless world of books that fuel my imagination.

Introducing Dameli, our lead mechanical engineer, whose presence shatters the gender norms in the realm of robotics. Despite being the sole female member, her expertise in mechanical engineering over the past 2 years has been the linchpin of our team’s success. Beyond robotics, Dameli is an avid volunteer, always ready to give back to the community.

I am Imanali, the helmsman of our team, steering our robotic endeavors to success. My role as the driver blends seamlessly with my love for programming and app development. When I am not at the helm, I am crafting mobile applications that solve real-world problems.

Together, we are Team Kazakhstan, united by a common goal to innovate and inspire. Our journey to FGC 2023 is not just a quest for victory, but a mission to ignite the flame of technological advancement and foster a culture of collaborative learning.
