Team Nicaragua 2023 🇳🇮


Martha Ruiz is 16 years old; she is a very curious girl and passionate about Robotics. Each challenge for her is always an opportunity to demonstrate her abilities. Her strength being programming and always improving her building skills. Martha has developed good leadership, responsibility, problem solving and critical thinking skills.

Edwin Pompilio Baca Cordero is 17 years old and loves robotics. He started in 2015 with Lego Education and competed for 2 years in Nicaragua, 2016 and 2017. After a while he got involved in robotics again at the 2022 FIRST Global Challenge. He is passionate about design and knows how to work as a team.

Jorge Araya, born in Managua, Nicaragua. He is 17 years old and this would be his second year in the FIRST Global Challenge. He completed 12 levels of robotics at UNICIT and spent approximately 2 years in a robotics club where he participated in the third Robotics Olympiad in his country. He recently participated in the bridge making contest at UCA. Also this year he was chosen as MTA coordinator at his school.

Cody Barrera is 14 years old. He has been home schooled for the past two years. His hobbies include travel, robotics, technology, and boxing. He has been involved in robotics for the last 2 years. At the 2022 FIRST Global Challenge, he learned many new skills which he hopes to implement this year.

Hector Enrique Lacayo, 14 years old. He is in 8th grade at Saint Dominic school. His favorite classes are math and science. He likes everything that he has to do with the future and technology. In his childhood he spent time in robotics at UNICIT and is currently studying educational robotics at Createch Mind.

María José is our main mentor, born and raised in Limón, Costa Rica. She is a computer engineer with a master’s degree in project management with an emphasis in information technology, currently working at Intel as a Product Engineer.
