Team Puerto Rico 2023 šŸ‡µšŸ‡·

Ā”Hola! Greetings from Team Puerto Rico. We come from a small island in the Caribbean, 100 x 35 miles in size, land of delicious food, incredible landscapes, contagious music, and leaders in innovation. It’s an honor for us to participate in FIRST Global and follow in the footsteps of FGC 2022 Team Puerto Rico, who achieved 3rd place in last year’s competition in Geneva, Switzerland. We look forward to joining youth from all over the world in working towards a STEM-powered, cleaner future. We promise to give our best in every moment of this journey!

Traveling from Puerto Rico to Singapore is no small feat, which is why we are so grateful to each one of our donors and supporters for helping us in this journey. Thank you for your commitment to Puerto Rico, to our global youth, and to STEM education!
Just as we have an entire community lifting us up and helping us live up to our potential, it is our hope that, along the way, we will lift up and inspire even more students like us to say yes to the transformative power of STEM.

See you all in Singapore!

About our team:

Ā”Buenas! My name is Alexander, I’m 17 years old and entering my Senior year in Cupeyville School. I like listening to jazz and watching Formula 1. I hope to study Engineering and Foreign Affairs, so I am really excited about the opportunity to combine both of my interests in working towards a greater good through this competition. I’m really excited to get to compete in this year’s competition in Singapore!
Hi, My name is YaimelĆs and I’m in my Junior year at Colegio San Vicente de PaĆŗl. I participated in FIRST LEGO League Challenge in Puerto Rico for 5 years, winning 2nd place in the innovation project category in my last year. I am excited for the opportunity to continue working with robots and inspiring others to do the same. See you all in Singapore!

Hi, my name is Dylan. I am starting my Junior year at Dorado Academy and I enjoy watching k-dramas and listening to music. Prior to FIRST Global, I competed in FIRST LEGO League for 4 years and I coached a team for another 2 – so I have experience as a team player and a mentor. I’m excited to get to know all of you in Singapore!

Hi everyone, I’m Chili. I’m 16 years old and a Senior at Baldwin School. I’m really excited about the opportunity to participate in the FIRST Global Challenge because I have an interest in planetary justice. Also, I think that generative AI and reasoning will bring a new era in robotics, so I can’t wait to explore that as well. Counting the days until Singapore!

Ā”Hola, hola! I am Diego, a Senior at Cupeyville School in San Juan, Puerto Rico. My first ā€œexperienceā€ with robotics was a LEGO robotics camp when I was younger and immediately loved it! For me, FIRST Global is an opportunity to reestablish myself in STEM fields and learn new things along the way. I can’t wait to meet all of you in Singapore!

Hi, I’m Shanti and I am a Sophomore at Baldwin School. My favorite class is math, but I am excited to learn more about robotics this year! I admire how the FGC community in Puerto Rico is open to students with many different levels of expertise in STEM. I’m excited to share the FGC project and encourage other students to participate in STEM.

Hi, I’m Dolly and I’m a Sophomore who enjoys playing violin, running cross country, and learning about new science topics. For fun, I like to read mystery novels, try new foods, and travel the world. I love STEM – it’s my venue to celebrate curiosity, create and dream. I can code in Python, PHP, & SQL and I am eager and willing to learn new things!

Thank you to our supporters!
