Costa Rica is the third smallest country of Central America. Our country has over 500.000 species, is estimated to contain approximately 5% to 6% of the world’s biodiversity, despite only occupying 0.03% of the Earth’s surface. This high concentration of species makes Costa Rica a global hotspot for biodiversity, with a wide array of ecosystems and a rich variety of flora and fauna. This year STEM, brings together 5 young people from high school, to represent the costarican in this Robotics Challenge.
Students:
* Astrid Romero Umaña; Student at Colegio Sagrada Familia. She is the Captain of the Team; some of her qualities are: charismatic, thoughtful, authentic and persevering.
* Nathan Jobson Castro; Student at Centro Educativo María Inmaculada. He is the Spokesperson of the Team, friendly, charismatic, an athlete; and ready for any challenge.
*Jandreline Orozco Sanchez; Student at Colegio Técnico Profesional de Limón; She is kind, diligent, love reading and learning new things.
* Alessandro Rojas Garcia; Student at Liceo Nuevo de Limón Mario Bourne Bourne. He is responsible, like helping others, during all these years has develop a deep passion for STEM, a genius handling the robot and he is also a musician.
*Geyrell Mora Padilla; Student at Colegio Técnico Profesional de Limón. He is energetic, friendly, responsible, charismatic, and willing to help anyone.
Mentor:
*María José González Araya; She currently working at Intel, has a Computer Engineer Masters degree; and is the Technical Mentor of the Team.
*Hermelinda Mc Kenzie W.; She is a community leader, has a Librarian degree, and is the main Mentor and Manager of the Team.
