Team Ethiopia 2025 🇪🇹

We are super honored and excited to be representing our country of Ethiopia at FIRST Global Challenge 2025 in Panama. Our country is bursting with brilliance and innovation, but as is the case with most countries, we have some major environmental issues. Climate change is expanding the Sahara desert, making rainfall become unpredictable and turbulent, and fertile land is under more pressure. For a nation where so much of life is tied to the land, achieving a balance between human progress and environmental stability is incredibly important for us.

That’s why this year’s theme “Eco Equilibrium” resonates so strongly with our team. Ethiopia’s and the world’s future relies on us as a collective working towards a balanced approach to problems in order to preserve our natural wealth while allowing our communities to flourish well past our lifetimes. This year’s challenge is an opportunity for us to familiarize ourselves with new technologies, collaborate with teams from all over the world and apply our nation’s culture of resilience and innovation to a cause that will define the future of our country, continent and world.

My name is Nehemiah Abrham. I am a part of Team Ethiopia in FIRST Global Challenge. I am very excited to participate in this year’s FIRST Global Challenge at Panama. As a part of Team Ethiopia we are working on our robot excitingly and under high pressure. All of the team members are working together to make a good robot and to gain great points in the challenge. I like the team’s spirit and cohesion, also the togetherness of the team in working on the robot and other challenges.

From the bustling city of Addis Ababa where opportunities and challenges often stand side by side, Team Ethiopia rises with a vision to innovate, inspire and solve real life problems and make a difference by the belief that anyone, no matter their background, can make a difference. This year’s FIRST Global Challenge theme really resonates with us because in Ethiopia we see communities where access to reliable energy can transform lives and inspire generations, and we also see the urgency of protecting our beautiful and diverse natural habitats. For us this challenge is more than building a robot, it’s about giving hope to our mothers and fathers that a future where clean and reliable energy comes in abundance is not just a dream but a reality within reach. As we travel to Panama, we don’t just carry our robot, we carry the hopes of Ethiopia in our hearts and the promise of a brighter future in our hands. We look forward to learning from teams around the world, sharing our culture and forming friendships because for us the FIRST Global Challenge is more than a competition, it’s a celebration of what young and unique minds can achieve if united by the purpose to change the world.

This year, our passionate students: Dagmawi Tewodros, Esrom Anagaw, Lidya Yehualashet, Nehemiah Abrham, and Yonathan Melaku – are fueled by a mission to tackle global challenges. They, along with their experienced mentors, Elias Gebru, Dagmawi Girum, and Henok Ketema, are deeply invested in learning, collaborating, and innovating to create solutions that can make a difference for Ethiopia and the world.
