03 Jun Team Liberia 2025 🇱🇷
From the heart of West Africa, Liberia stands tall as Africa’s first independent Republic and the first to elect a female president. Nestled along the Atlantic coast, Liberia boasts 60% of the Upper Guinea Rainforest, a globally significant ecological zone teeming with unique biodiversity. Yet, beyond her natural wonders, Liberia is also a rising beacon of innovation and youth-driven transformation. Representing this spirit is Team Liberia, proudly mentored by STEM Club – Team Liberia Inc., an initiative committed to equipping young minds with hands-on STEM education, regardless of background.
This year’s team is made up of seven passionate students from diverse high schools across Liberia, each selected through competitive participation in our annual free STEM programs. From coders to engineers, researchers to storytellers, these students embody creativity, resilience, and an unwavering commitment to shaping a better world. Among them is 14-year-old innovator Clemena L. McKenzie, who dreams of solving community challenges through robotics; Emmanuel K. Elyinabah Jr., a mechanical team lead driven by problem-solving; and GG Marolyn Sele Toweh, our research and engineering notebook lead who values collaboration and impact. Other key team members include Saint-Jerome Chea, lead programmer aspiring to become a software engineer; Jeremiah K. Dahn, a 15-year-old storyteller capturing our journey through media; and Victor M. Kamah, who is pursuing a future in IT despite limited resources in his community. Each student brings a unique story but all share a common goal: to build, to learn, and to lead.
We are thrilled to compete in the 2025 FIRST Global Challenge because it’s more than a competition–it’s a global platform of unity, innovation, and hope. This year’s theme, Eco-Equilibrium, speaks directly to our country’s environmental struggles. Despite housing some of the world’s rarest species and ecosystems, deforestation, wetland destruction, and poor environmental awareness continue to threaten Liberia’s ecological balance. Through this challenge, Team Liberia is ready to develop practical, tech-driven solutions that restore balance to nature, promote sustainability, and inspire change across communities. We are excited to share, learn, and collaborate with our peers from around the world, united in our mission to protect our planet and shape a future that works for everyone.
