In the boundless landscapes where the golden sands of the Sahara meet the deep blue of the Atlantic, a new generation of innovators is rising. Team Mauritania, representing their nation at the FIRST Global Challenge 2025, embodies the spirit of resilience, curiosity, and hope.

United under the theme Eco-Equilibrium, this team of five extraordinary students is driven by a shared vision: to protect their country’s delicate ecosystems and build sustainable technologies that can transform not only Mauritania but the world.

• Mohamed is the team’s strategic thinker and coder. Passionate about robotics and environmental technology, he dreams of designing smart solutions to manage scarce water resources in Mauritania’s arid regions.

• Malha brings creativity and precision to the team. As the lead builder, she translates ideas into mechanical realities, inspired by the vibrant cultural heritage of Mauritania and the harmony it seeks with nature.

• Mariem has a keen scientific mind and is fascinated by renewable energy. She aspires to develop technologies that harness Mauritania’s abundant solar and wind resources to achieve ecological balance and energy independence.

• Hayaty is a born problem-solver with a deep sense of social responsibility. She focuses on ensuring their projects remain practical and impactful for communities, particularly those living in remote desert towns.

• Halima is the team’s communicator and motivator. She shares their journey with passion, determined to inspire other young Mauritanians, especially girls, to pursue STEM and become guardians of the environment.

Together, they form a diverse and dynamic team, united by purpose and national pride. Growing up in a country marked by the beauty of dunes, oasis towns, and rich marine life along its coasts, Team Mauritania understands the urgent need for balance between human development and environmental preservation.

At FIRST Global 2025, they aim to showcase solutions that reflect Mauritania’s unique challenges and opportunities—from combating desertification and water scarcity to promoting clean energy and sustainable industries.
Their journey is more than a competition; it’s a mission to show that even in the harshest environments, innovation can flourish and create a future where technology and ecology exist in harmony.
