Team El Salvador 2024 🇸🇻

TEAM El Salvador currently consists of 26 teenagers participating in the educational programs of the Salvador del Mundo Foundation. Their goal is to promote learning through educational robotics, providing access to students of all levels, without any cultural, ethnic, or socioeconomic distinctions.

For TEAM El Salvador, the 2024 theme of FIRST Global is incredibly exciting. Talking about sustainable food production means taking action now with a vision for the future. It represents an opportunity to address one of the world’s main problems, implement technologies to provide solutions to food issues that threaten the quality of life for people worldwide. This becomes an exciting challenge and a commitment, as this project could mean a substantial change for families, especially those living in rural areas where the cost of the basic food basket is high. Choosing to produce their own food by integrating technology can turn a dream into a reality for the sustainability of the planet.

Meet the Team:

  • David Cornejo (16 years old): David is a second-year high school student. He stands out for his passion for robotics, especially in developing new prototypes through logic and imagination, which has refined his soft skills. He says, “The doors that have opened for me to be part of TEAM El Salvador make me very happy. I am sure that I will dedicate my life to technology and developing new prototypes that help people in everyday life.”
  • Judith Pérez (15 years old): Judith is a 9th-grade student. She mentions that what she loves most about robotics is that it combines areas she is passionate about, such as programming, engineering, and mechanics. She enjoys building and programming robots and feels very excited, hoping to do her best in the competitions. Her future goal is to study software development engineering or mechatronics engineering.
  • Jefferson Escobar (17 years old): Jefferson is a second-year high school student. He loves robotics, which is why he decided to participate in FUSALMO courses. He is curious about how different functions can be achieved by building and programming a robot. He says, “In the future, when I finish my studies, I would like to study a career related to robotics.”
  • Stephanie Orantes (16 years old): Stephanie is a second-year high school student. She says what she likes most about robotics is that it combines many different topics and takes them to an extraordinary world, making daily activities easier. She also mentions that it is a constantly advancing discipline, allowing them to learn and experiment. Stephanie says, “This stage marks a significant phase of development in my life, helping me develop and improve both soft and technical skills.”
  • Francisco Alas (17 years old): Francisco is a second-year high school student. Now that he is part of TEAM El Salvador, he mentions that he has many expectations and hopes to participate and have fun with the team, learning together to solve problems. That is what he likes most about robotics. When he finishes high school, he would like to study systems engineering.
  • All TEAM members live in suburban areas around San Salvador, the capital, which are densely populated, full of commerce, but rich in culture, tradition, and nature. For example, Jefferson and Stephanie live in Lourdes Colón, home to the beautiful tourist spot “Los Chorros,” known for its cool spring water pools. Judith lives in Ilopango, home to the Ilopango Lake, better known as “Apulo,” which has an interesting history as a volcanic caldera formed by a series of eruptions thousands of years ago. David lives in the Zapotitán area, where you can find the “San Andrés Ruins,” an archaeological site that offers a glimpse into the Maya culture with its pyramids, platforms, and ceremonial plazas.
