Composed of five students, aged 16 to 18, and two adult mentors, a group leader and coach, and a technical mentor, First Global – Team Angola says it is motivated to do differently at the event beginning next October. .
Cristóvão Mário Cacombe, one of the project’s mentors, explains that at this time the team is tuning the machines.
‘At this very moment, and with the impact we have had, we open the application to have a new student, people can apply on our website, the information is also on facebook’.
Facing some constraints on the issue of support, a situation that negatively influenced the performance of the team in the previous edition, the mentor says that this year things tend to improve.
‘ Our organization is officially located at the August 28th media library here in Luanda; Our students receive programming classes, assembling robotics. While we wait for the materials for this year’s robot, different robots are being developed for practice and preparation.
But still, Christopher explains that the group is open for sponsorship and other partnerships.
‘ Arotech is open to partners and sponsorship for this year’s competition, organizations interested in working with us can have their logos on our uniforms. We are also running a fundraising campaign through facebook and our contacts’.
Bringing robotics and innovation to Angolan students and arousing interest in new technologies is one of the main goals of the project.
